Get to Know Me

Thank you for visiting my graphic design portfolio website. As a graphic designer based in Charlotte, N.C., my focus is on creating visual identities that represent the essence of organizations. This website serves as a demo site developed for educational purposes only, with all products designed strictly for promotional display and not for sale.

The site aims to enhance awareness of Carver College and to honor the American soldiers who played a crucial role in the victory of World War II. During a time of segregation, these brave individuals challenged the status quo with heart, grit, and determination.

Carver College, founded in 1949 under the auspices of the Charlotte City School Board, was established to support American veterans returning from service during the war. Initially, classes were conducted at Second Ward High School, strategically located at the corner of Alexander and First Streets, providing accessible education to those who had served.

The college was committed to serving both individuals and the wider community. Its objectives included enhancing personal living standards, fostering cultural development, and instilling a sense of responsible citizenship among students. Key goals encompassed preparing young individuals for occupational competence and facilitating their entrance into senior colleges and universities. Additionally, Carver College offered continuous educational opportunities focused on vocational training, cultural enrichment, and general studies for adult learners.

In alignment with the strong foundation laid by Carver College, I will establish “The Carver Junior College Scholarship Foundation” following my graduation. The foundation's mission will be to recognize and promote the contributions of both Carver College and Mecklenburg College students and faculty. The initial initiative under this foundation will be called “Vets Giving Back.” As a veteran and current college student, I have observed a significant disconnect between veterans and the broader community. Veterans have access to educational opportunities that may not be available to others in our community. With this understanding, I commit to leading by example. I will donate fifty percent of all profits from my work as a graphic designer to support The Carver Junior College Scholarship Foundation. This contribution aims to help fund educational endeavors for future students at Central Piedmont Community College.

As the campaign evolves, I also plan to aid in the preservation of historical records for both Carver College and Second Ward High School. It is imperative for our Charlotte community to actively engage in safeguarding the legacy and significant artifacts of these historic institutions. By doing so, we honor their history and influence while ensuring future generations can appreciate their contributions.

I would like to thank the College Archives Department. Feel free to learn more about Central Piedmont Community College’s history at:
